Planning a trip...need help!!

So, I'm trying to put together a trip to Las Vegas, for the hubby and I.  It's one of those places we want to see and probably will not be in a hurry to visit again.  But it is close and we need a change from Phoenix for a few days.  However, I am having a hard time finding a hotel.  I read reviews and become even more confused.  So I need suggestions, we would like to stay somewhere on the strip...we love to walk around and sight-see, so somewhere were we could easy walk from the hotel to where the action is.  We are thinking of taking in a Grand Canyon tour...but not quite sure yet because it could be a separate trip altogether.  So, any tips would be appreciated from anyone who has been to Vegas?

i stayed at ballys hotel on the strip. it's okay...a bit outdated (room furniture), but nothing too uncomfortable...you will be too busy walking around and taking in the sites to notice. have fun dear :-)

Have stayed at Wynn for a wedding (modern, nice, clean hotel); at the Venetian which is fantastic and the Mirage. A cousin just stayed at MGM Grand (her first visit to Vegas and loved it. Best bets are Bellagio's buffet (only way to eat in Vegas)and grab a show. She also took the bus ride and trip to Grand Canyon (5hours). She thought it was well worth it.
